Conservation issues presented to the World Heritage Committee in 1993

At the seventeenth session of the Bureau, the German Delegate reported on the situation of the Old City of Lübeck, and in particular the demolition of certain monuments situated in the protected zone and the discovery of mural paintings which are presently being restored. A detailed report will be presented to the seventeenth session of the World Heritage Committee by ICOMOS, which was invited by the Mayor of Lübeck to visit the City and to make an evaluation of the situation.

The Delegate of Germany reported on the situation in the old city of Lubeck, and more particularly on the demolition of certain monuments situated in the protected zone and the discovery of mural paintings which are presently being restored. At the invitation of the Mayor of Lübeck, ICOMOS will visit the city and make an evaluation of the situation and present a detailed report to the next session of the World Heritage Committee at Carthagena.
