Ecotourism Australia

Ecotourism Australia is an Australian non-governmental organization whose goal is to promote the importance of ecotourism through a sustainable tourism programme in Australia. Since 2003, the World Heritage Centre has worked in partnership with Ecotourism Australia to create a network of attribution of its label "ECO certification", which encourages the Australian tourism sector to respect  World Heritage Convention principles, especially on natural and mixed World Heritage sites.

Objectives:

  • Develop innovative fundraising mechanisms to finance projects and activities to aid conservation and the protection of natural and mixed sites inscribed on the World Heritage List.
  • Advise World Heritage site personnel on tourism management
