         <description><![CDATA[Once again UNESCO will partner with World Wildlife Fund (WWF) for Earth Hour,&amp;nbsp;one of the world&apos;s largest and most well-known environmental campaigns in the world. UNESCO has invited World Heritage sites to participate in this initiative by switching off the lights on the night of Earth Hour: Saturday,&amp;nbsp;23 March 2013, from 8:30 to 9:30pm local time.&amp;nbsp;

         <title>Kernavė Archaeological site in Lithuania granted &quot;enhanced protection” in the event of armed conflict</title>
         <description><![CDATA[Kernavė Archaeological Site (Cultural Reserve of Kernavė) World Heritage site has been given &quot;enhanced protection&quot; status by the Committee for the Protection of Cultural Property in the Event of Armed Conflict, which held its sixth meeting at UNESCO Headquarters from 14 to 16 December.

         <title>World Heritage Committee removes Baku from Danger List welcoming improvements in the ancient city&#xb4;s preservation</title>
         <description><![CDATA[The World Heritage Committee has welcomed the success of the authorities of Azerbaijan in preserving the Walled City of Baku with the Shirvanshahs&apos; Palace and Maiden Tower (Azerbaijan), and decided to remove the property from UNESCO&apos;s List of World Heritage in Danger.

         <title>World Heritage Committee Inscribes 61 New Sites on World Heritage List</title>
         <description><![CDATA[Cairns - UNESCO&apos;s World Heritage Committee, meeting since November 27 in Cairns, Australia, has inscribed 61 new cultural and natural sites on the World Heritage. The List now has 690 sites of &amp;quot;exceptional universal value&amp;quot; in 122 countries. Sites in Azerbaijan, Malaysia, Nicaragua and Suriname are on the List for the first time.
