         <title>Restored Venaria Reale Palace re-opens</title>
         <description><![CDATA[The Baroque palace of Venaria Reale, built by the Savoy dynasty outside the city of Turin, has been re-opened to the public after eight years of restoration works. The palace is one of a group of buildings inscribed on the World Heritage List in 1997 as the Residences of the Royal House of Savoy.
Built during the 17th and 18th centuries, the palace had declined in the 19th century when it was used as a barracks. The recent works took eight years and cost approximately US$284 million. The  ...]]></description>

         <title>World Heritage Committee Inscribes 46 New Sites on World Heritage List</title>
         <description><![CDATA[The following sites have been inscribed on the World Heritage List by the World Heritage Committee at its 21st session, meeting in Naples, Italy, 1-6 December, 1997. A total of 46 sites were inscribed: 7 natural sites; 38 cultural sites; and 1 mixed site.
