In the framework of the 40th anniversary of the UNESCO World Heritage Convention, Agora, Biennal of architecture, urbanism and design of the city of Bordeaux will present its 5th edition from 13 to 16 September 2012 at Hangar 14, with parts of the event in all areas of the city.

Agora aims to honor contemporary architecture and the urban dynamics of Bordeaux with those who create, build and live in the city (architects, urban planners, designers, builders and residents). The commission of the main exhibition in 2012 was given to the architect Marc Barani (Equerre d'Argent Prize 2008). This exhibition is designed around the theme: "Heritage: Legacy/Heresy".

Seven seminars and debates will take place in the spirit of the city dweller/citizen perspective. They will deal with themes such as "How can older buildings remain sustainable?", "Heritage and memory", and others. International architects and experts will participate, among them Bernard Reichen (architect, Great Prize of Urbanism 2005), Rudy Ricciotti (architect, Great National Prize of architecture 2006), the Russian film director Alexandre Sokourov and Francesco Bandarin (UNESCO Assistant Director-General for Culture).
