Europa Nostra is a framework which represents some 250 non-governmental organizations, 150 associate organizations and 1500 individual members in more 50 countries. Each year it holds a competition intended to reward different kinds of initiatives for the protection and promotion of cultural heritage.
This competition highlights a large variety of actions that enhance restoration programs for monuments and buildings, their adaptation to new uses and programs for conservation of archaeological sites and art collections. Estimating that the restoration and the conservation are only a factor of the valorization of cultural heritage, education projects linked to cultural heritage, research and dedicated service to heritage conservation by individuals and organization are also awarded.
Each year, six prizes of 10,000 Euros are awarded to the laureates in the various categories. The Europa Nostra competition, celebrating excellence and dedication by architects, craftsmen, volunteers, schools, local communities, heritage owners and media, stimulates creativity and innovation to promote cultural heritage.
If you wish to submit a project to Europa Nostra, entry forms are available on the website: www.europanostra.org. The closing date for submission of entries is 1st October 2009.
