Meeting on Implementing the CBD Programme of Work on Protected Areas: Conservation NGOs and WH Sites

The World Heritage Centre, in an effort to develop a more systematic approach to cooperation with our natural heritage conservation partners, and in order to explore closer collaboration on specific conservation matters, has called for a dedicated working meeting.

The objective of the meeting is to build on the gains made from several years of cooperation between the WHC and international conservation partners by:

1. Finalizing a project proposal focusing on applying the Convention on Biological Diversity's Programme of Work on Protected Areas in selected WH sites.

2. Establishing a common vision of NGO-WHC cooperation for the conservation of WH sites.

3. Identifying further potential joint conservation partner - WHC initiatives.

Participants include a broad range of conservation NGOs, conservation finance representatives, the IUCN, and various World Heritage State Party experts, along with other key organizations.
