         <description><![CDATA[The United States National Aeronautics and Space Administration, and the US Geological Survey have released a first ever satellite analysis of global mangrove forest coverage.&amp;nbsp;The analysis reveals a total area of 137,760 square kilometers, 12.3% lower than had previously been estimated, and shrinking.&amp;nbsp;For more information, click here.&amp;nbsp;

         <title>Monnaie de Paris produces diamond-studded Taj Mahal coin</title>
         <description><![CDATA[In partnership with the UNESCO World Heritage Centre, La Monnaie de Paris is offering a 100,000&amp;euro; coin set with diamonds in the image of the Taj Mahal, a UNESCO World Heritage site. Part of the proceeds will support the work of the World Heritage Centre.
La Monnaie de Paris has received authorization to sell 29 of them, each weighing one kilogram (2.2 lbs). Designed in partnership with Cartier, each piece includes 68 diamonds encrusted on the dome of the Taj Mahal.

Tropical Storm Agatha, the first named storm of the Pacific hurricane season, made landfall on 29 May 2010 in Guatemala and left a trail of destruction across much of Central America.          <title>Damage to Great Barrier Reef assessed; stricter shipping surveillance proposed</title>
         <description><![CDATA[An inspection team has found&amp;nbsp;the damage resulting from the 3 April grounding of a bulk carrier on the Great Barrier Reef (Australia), a World Heritage site. Initial inspections indicate the impact site covers approximately 2.5 km, and reef scarring and potentially toxic paint residue have been found. The coral and sea bed structure was completely crushed in some areas and approximately three tons of oil were leaked into the sea. Further assessments will be made in the coming days.
